Processing of Personal Data – Information according to the General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679/EU)
Law firm Adam Borg is the controller of personal data regarding contact persons we receive in connection with assignments or otherwise processed when preparing or administering the assignment. You are not obliged to provide personal data to us, but without it, we cannot take on an assignment because we cannot perform the necessary conflict-of-interest and anti-money laundering checks. We process the data to conduct mandatory conflict-of-interest checks and, if applicable, anti-money laundering checks, execute and administer the assignment, safeguard your interests, and for accounting and billing purposes. The processing of personal data is based on the necessity to fulfill the contract with you, to comply with a legal obligation, or in the case of public mandates, to fulfill a task of public interest. The data may also be used for business and method development, market analysis, statistics, and risk management. Data processed for the purpose of developing and analyzing the business is based on our legitimate interest in developing the business and communicating with our contacts. Personal data may be transferred between the law firm and another law firm for the purpose of conducting conflict-of-interest and anti-money laundering checks, information and knowledge exchange, and resource allocation.
We will not disclose personal data to third parties unless (i) specifically agreed upon between the law firm and you, (ii) it is necessary within the scope of a specific assignment to safeguard your rights, (iii) if necessary for us to fulfill a statutory obligation or comply with authority decisions or court orders, or (iv) in case we engage external service providers to perform tasks on our behalf. Data may be disclosed to courts, authorities, counterparts, and counterpart representatives if necessary to safeguard your rights.
Personal data is stored, in accordance with the obligation incumbent upon Law firm Adam Borg according to the Guiding Principles for Good Legal Practice, for a period of ten years from the completion of the matter, or for a longer period as required by the nature of the matter. You have the right to request information from Law firm Adam Borg about the use of the personal data concerning you. Upon your request or on our own initiative, we will correct or delete inaccurate data or restrict the processing of such data. You also have the right to request that your data not be processed for direct marketing purposes. You also have the right to access your personal data in a machine-readable format or, if technically feasible, to have the data transferred to a third party of your choice. If you are dissatisfied with our processing, you can file a complaint with a supervisory authority, which in Sweden is the Data Inspection Authority (www.datainspektionen.se). You can also contact the supervisory authority in the country where you reside or work.
